“There has been no one, before or after, like Katharine Houghton Hepburn. Mean as a snake, dear as an angel— she is one of the great humans, better than the legend. She is all she appears to be, with a face for Mount Rushmore.” — John Bryson ๐Ÿ’™

“If you want to be an actor, my advice is to learn your lines and don’t bump into the other actors. Just get out there and act. You have to have the courage to make mistakes. It takes courage to be bad. You can only be good with experience. If you are really interested in a film career, you should get all the experience and training you can. You won’t be wasting your time. Practically all films have someone young and someone old in them. You can work until you’re one hundred years old.” ❤️ Cary especially for @oldhollywoodabode ๐Ÿ’ž #carygrant #love #oldhollywood #actor #quote #perfect #amazing #icon #vintage #50s #classic

“All during the shooting of “Roman Holiday” I kept wondering what was her extra special quality. Then one day it hit me. Here was a girl who looked at the world and everybody in it as if she was seeing them for the first time. There was wonder and joy in her every expression. It was like a blind girl who suddenly was able to see—and in the seeing loved every bit of what she saw and what she did. Call it naรฏvetรฉ, call it Alice in Wonderland, call it what you like, Audrey Hepburn looks at the world with the eyes and heart of a little girl. And I love her for it!” - Gregory Peck ๐Ÿ’– #AudreyHepburn #quote #love #icon #beauty #flawless #glamour #stunning #oldhollywood #vintage

The most famous of all Cary stories is about the time a newsmagazine was preparing a story on him, and needed his correct age. The editors sent him a telegram: HOW OLD CARY GRANT? And he wired back: OLD CARY GRANT FINE. HOW YOU? ❤️ Also, a happy welcome to the boatload of new followers. You’ll love it here. #carygrant#oldhollywood#classichollywood#vintage#candid#1930s#movies#actor#icon#screenlegend

Beginning his career on stage, Gregory Peck made a significant breakthrough with Morning Star, on Broadway, in 1942 before his first film, Days of Glory, in 1944. The feature, The Keys of the Kingdom, in 1945, installed his screen persona as the significant dignified and authoritative figure of American cinema. He then appeared in a series of successful features such as Alfred Hitchcock’s Spellbound, in 1945, Duel in the Sun, in 1946 and The Paradine Case, in 1947. During the 1950s, he obtained memorable parts in such films as The Snows of Kilimanjaro, in 1952, Roman Holiday, in 1953 opposite Audrey Hepburn and Moby Dick, in 1956. In 1962, occurred what was considered the role of his life when he earned the role of Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird – a character that resembled his off-screen personality. From the 1970s, Gregory Peck’s career declined although he did appear in notable features such as The Boys of Brazil, in 1978, a television film The Blue and the Grey, in 1982, in which he incarnated Abraham Lincoln and a remake of Moby Dick, in 1998. An elegant, upright and compassionate man, the American actor incarnated in a way Hollywood’s moral conscious: ‘They say the bad guys are more interesting to play but there is more to it than that — playing the good guys is more challenging because it’s harder to make them interesting’. Thus as The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit, he incarnated the 1960s ‘White Collar’ hero’s uniform, now embodied by a certain Don Draper in Mad Men. ❤️❤️❤️ #GregoryPeck #OldHollywood #vintage #love #Babe #handsome #icon #50s

Some Trivia on A Star is Born ❤️
After filming the Academy Award scene where Esther/Vicki is inadvertently slapped by a drunken Norman Maine, the whole side of Judy Garland’s face was bruised. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Because the role of Norman Maine is that of a has-been actor, it was rejected by Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra, Tyrone Power, Errol Flynn, Henry Fonda, Gary Cooper, Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift and Cary Grant (who at first accepted it) before being finally accepted by James Mason.

At age 20, Judy Garland first had played the role of Vicki Lester (Esther Blodgett) on the “Lux Radio Theatre” hour-long adaptation of the original 1937 film. The CBS broadcast of December 28, 1942, without songs, co-starred Walter Pidgeon as Norman Maine. ๐Ÿ’—
Judy Garland did not attend the 1955 Academy Awards, where she was nominated as Best Actress for her portrayal of Vicki Lester in A Star Is Born (1954), because she was in hospital after giving birth to her third child and only son Joey Luft. ๐Ÿ’–
The set for the musical number “Lose That Long Face” was created by taking New Orleans building facades left over from A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) and spray painting them white. #JudyGarland #AStarIsBorn #oldhollywood #vintage #50s #icon #1954 #love #beauty
